How are mealworms beneficial for your gardens and house plants? By their production of FRASS. Mealworm Frass is the excrement from a mealworm after it eats wheat bran. Frass is a dry granular substance with the texture of fine sand.
 
It contains Chitin and  benefits your soil by not adding any chemicals or toxins, and is a great inexpensive soil amendment in a highly concentrated form. It's also  environmentally safe for water runoff into lakes, streams, and ponds.
 
Look at the difference. The two Spider Plants (a.k.a Airplane Plants) above were planted the same day. The two cuttings were taken from the same parent plant. The plant on the left was planted using only potting soil. The plant on the right was planted in a mixture of potting soil and frass. The plant on the right is more voluminous and is already producing new spiderettes.
 
Application guidelines.
       These are only guidelines.Your soil conditions may require adjusting the amount.
 
To achieve best results, pre-mix Frass into your potting soil.
 Pre-Mix ,-      Add 1 cup Frass for each  cubic foot of potting soil.Apply Top Dressing or Compost Tea every 2 weeks.
 
Top Dress  - 1 pound provides coverage for 20 square feet.Sprinkle 1 Tablespoon per plant over the root zone and water immediately. Apply every 2 weeks.
 
Transplanting -  Add a very small amount under the roots.
 
Raised beds-  Apply 1 pound Frass for 20 square feet. Dig up top 6 inches of soil and water thoroughly.Apply Frass.
 
Compost Tea - Add 1/2 cup Frass to 1 gallon of dechlorinated water.Drench plant roots within 2 hours of mixing.. Any leftover extra can be stored in the fridge for up to 1 week.
 
Foliar Feed -For each gallon of water, add 4 teaspoons Frass.Shake thoroughly and allow to sit for 30 minutes .Strain  and apply
